Can HMCP motor circuit protector be used with my starter?

HMCP's ( motor circuit protectors)  are basically a molded circuit breaker with only a magnetic trip element. It's purpose is to provide for short circuit protection only. It is required to be use with a UL listed motor starter that provide thermal overload protection via the overload relay. They cannot be installed in the field as a branch circuit protective device unless this combination rating has been tested by the starter manufacturer and listed by UL. The HMCP has no Interrupt ratings associated with it as a component. The interrupt ratings are dependent on the starter it is used with.

what is the tolerance of the HMCP instantaneous trip setting - amps?
