Safety Switch Information Regarding Corrosion Resistance:

For Corrosion resistance / Salt Spray fog testing:

 

Stainless steel enclosures meet the UL50/CSA C22.2 No. 94.1.07 standard spray resistance.  The UL and CSA test requirement is 5% sale (NaCl) in water spray, ATSM B117 fog test.

 

Eaton routinely runs sale spray tests to validate that the paint system meets the UL50 and UL1332 salt spray requirements which exceeds 24 hour testing.  The UL recognized component requirements of the paint that is used on the safety switch is maintained by our supplier and verified by UL follow up service at the manufacturing location.  UL requires a recognized component paint to be usd on UL listed safety switches.

 

General recommendations or rules of thumb about corrosive environments:

(1) Saltwater Environment:  recommend NEMA 4X 316 stainless steel or NEMA 4X (non-metallic

(2) Chlorine Environment:   recommend NEMA 4X Non-Metallic

(3) Sulfur Environment:       recommend any NEMA 4X (304 stainless, 316 stainless or non-metallic) or our Environline Stainless Switch (304 NEMA 4X, with stainless mech and sub-pan).
