What is a solenoid safety interlock switch?

Solenoid safety interlock switches are used to restrict access to a hazardous location until an external control circuit allows the key attached to the access door to be removed from the switch.  The most common application for such switches is when there is hazardous machinery in motion.  In such cases, power is removed from the moving equipment and after a suitable waiting period has elapsed, the signal is sent to the switch to allow access.  Eaton's LS Titan solenoid safety switches provide versions that either require power to lock or power to unlock and offer a wide range of attachment keys for different cabinet door styles.
