Serial number format for dry type transformers
Due to the generic styles project we had to make a change on our serial number format. Now we are including the manufacturing day on the format.
The previous structure of the serial number was:
J-YY-M-56789
Where:
The first position is always J;
2nd and 3rd characters are the last two digits of the year, i,e, 17 for 2017;
The 4th letter is the month; A=Jan, B=Feb, M=Dec (we skip the letter “I”)
Characters 5 through 9 are sequential numbers assigned by the test equipment.
We included two more numbers to have the day of manufacture available on the serial number. Therefore the new structure would be:
J-YY-M-DD-7891011
Where:
The first position is always J;
2nd and 3rd characters are the last two digits of the year, i,e, 17 for 2017;
The 4th letter is the month; A=Jan, B=Feb, M=Dec (we skip the letter “I”)
The 5th and 6th characters are the manufacturing day
Characters 7 through 11 are sequential numbers.
So, serial number J17H0912358 is a transformer manufactured on August 9, 2017
