Why is my C440 / XTOE solid state overload status LED continually blinking?

The C440/XTOE overload has a steady heartbeat vis the LED that indicates when things are normal. When the blinking pattern increases, this is indicating a overload condition is occurring with the application. When the LED is steady on the overload has tripped. When the led is dark while powered, the device is not functioning or protecting and needs to be replaced.

The Minimum Trip Current is 115% of the FLA dial setting

  1. a.       If the LED is flashing 1x/second the motor is drawing less than 115% of the Dial Setting
  2. b.      If the LED is flashing 2x/second the motor is drawing greater than 115% of the Dial Setting
  3. c.      If LED is steady on the overload is in a tripped state.
